Shaun Ghafari is a mechanical engineer who holds a PhD and MASc from the University of Waterloo. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Tehran.

Shaun brings a wealth of industry experience to his teaching. At GCM Tech, he acted as senior mechanical engineer, performing vibration analysis and machine condition monitoring, and monitoring online health systems. He was the team leader for large motor and generator services with GE Canada, responsible for the engineering and design of motors and generators for oil and gas, mining and power industries.

Shaun worked for SKI Co. as chief engineer, designing and fabricating heat treatment furnaces, curing ovens, coating booths and a variety of other machine products for automotive and home appliance industries.

His research interests and activities include condition monitoring and fault detection of rotary machinery, vibration analysis and testing, development of integrated systems for testing, measurement applications, automated material handling and sorting systems and product development.

Shaun's research has been published in numerous international journals and presented at several conferences.
