Safaa Saleh

Safaa Saleh

Professor and Lab Coordinator, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology

Safaa Saleh holds a PhD in physics. (Her dissertation was published in Physica B [405: 2407–2412; 2010] and Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids [356:1089-1095; 2010]). Safaa has more than eight years of experience providing lectures at Sheridan College, Mokatam International Schools, and the German University in Cairo (GUC), as well as Helwan University in Egypt.

During her time at Sheridan College, Safaa has participated in developing physics curriculum, taught Electricity 1, Materials Engineering and Applied Electricity courses and developed new experiments for the Mechanics 1 practical course. She also created lab handbooks for the Kinematics of Machines, Mechanics 1 and Materials Engineering courses.

Safaa has supervised bachelor’s degree projects, as well as master’s in the fields of applied science (physics/biophysics), engineering (material science) and pharmacy. She also has two years of consultation experience for industry through her work as a physics specialist in the National Institute for Standards in Egypt (NIS-Egypt), where her main tasks were to provide calibration of electronic and ultrasound based devices, as well as to provide training for engineers in non-destructive and statistical analyses.

Safaa’s specialties include materials development and characterization through XRD, FTIR, ultrasound, DSC, DTA, density measurements and detecting optical parameters, curriculum development and technical writing.

Thorough and articulate, detailed and organized, Safaa is determined to provide the highest quality of education possible, and is honoured to be a faculty member at Sheridan.
