Miles McDonald

Miles  McDonald

Professor, School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship

Miles holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Before working in private industry, Miles was an Officer in the Canadian Army and later the British Royal Marines where he saw active service.

Miles has been with the School of Skilled Trades teaching electrical courses for a number of years. His most recent professional background has been in renewable energy where he promotes in-depth financial, technical and legal due-diligence, and has designed financial models for utility, commercial and residential scale solar projects.

Miles' expertise has taken him to speaking engagements at Green conventions including the USGBC convention regarding solar power. In addition, Miles was the solar trainer for Mitsubishi Electric in Canada, has constructed electrical designs for microfit projects and data analysis for solar plant operational efficiency.

Formerly, Miles served as Vice President, Consulting for Colliers International in Toronto, Ontario and prior to that Miles was a financial analyst at Morguard Investments Ltd in Mississauga, Ontario.

Miles is currently a volunteer Board member at Toronto Renewable Energy Co-op (TREC Education) where he advocates for STEM education.
