Ewa Iwanek

Ewa  Iwanek

Professor, School of Applied Chemical and Environmental Sciences

Ewa holds a PhD in Chemistry from the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland, with a specialization in Inorganic Technology, Heterogeneous Catalysis. She spent three (3) years at the University of Toronto as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Science.

Ewa continues to carry out research in the field of surface science with colleagues from Poland, as well as Italy. She has co-authored several papers in peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Catalysis, Applied Catalysis B., and the Journal of Chemical Education, and has taken part in international conferences. Ewa has a passion for teaching and is certified in Teaching English as a Second Language (Oxford Learning) and Teaching the Adult Learner (Mohawk College).

At Sheridan, Ewa teaches Applied Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Math, Culture and Communications and has dabbled in courses from PSB.  She joined the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology in January 2017.

In her spare time, Ewa is a certified sailing instructor and volunteers with Urban Wildlife Care, a wild animal rehabilitation centre, where she trains new volunteers.
