Riina DeFaria

Riina DeFaria

After a successful career in high school teaching, Riina DeFaria packed up her B.A. B.Ed. and M.A. to graduate from Osgoode Hall with a law degree. She became a partner in a Toronto law firm where she practised more than 20 years. She rounded out her skills as a four year member of the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board and also volunteered at numerous community agencies over the years providing legal advice to those in need. In 2000 she was granted a Masters degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School and also accredited as a Family Mediator by the Ontario Association of Family Mediators. In the same year she joined the Peel Family Mediation Services’ Board of Directors where she served as Chair and now continues to be a Board Member. She also taught at the Bar Admission Program for numerous years teaching a variety of courses including Administrative Law, Legal Drafting, Civil Procedure, ADR and Professional Ethics. She joined Sheridan as a full time faculty member in 2004 where she continues to teach a variety of courses to prospective Paralegals.
