Nadia began her journey as a lifelong learner at Sheridan College; she is a graduate of the Early Childhood Education diploma program. She spent many years working with young children and their families while pursuing her Bachelor Degree in Psychology (York University). She spent two years in Australia where she completed her Masters in Teaching with a focus in Primary Education at Griffith University. Shortly after obtaining her Master’s degree Nadia came full circle and returned back to Sheridan to teach in the Early Childhood Diploma program. She has been teaching at Sheridan College since January 2007. Nadia is fascinated by children’s development and the context of relationships within the early childhood environment. She enjoys teaching courses on development, relationships and reflective practice.

Nadia was the Principal Investigator of a three phase research study examining the preparation and inter-professional relationships of Early Childhood Educators in Full Day Early Learning Kindergarten programs. Her research was presented at the American Educational Research Association in Vancouver and San Francisco, as well as the Childcare 2020 conference in Winnipeg.

As the creator of an online parenting community she is able to merge her experiences as an educator and parent to share meaningful information with parents and caregivers around the world. She has facilitated workshops in Halton and Toronto on topics related to positive child guidance and family dynamics.

Nadia had the opportunity to study with Harvard Professor Dr. Chris Germer and Dr. Kirsten Neff (University of Texas), the developers of Mindful Self Compassion. Their work has inspired her to explore mindfulness as a tool in educator wellness and the impact on responsive relationships between educators and children.

When Nadia isn’t teaching she can be found attempting to take up a new hobby, cooking, eating, exploring this beautiful planet and enjoying life with her husband and two beautiful children.
