Courtney Chansavang joined Sheridan College as a faculty member in the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences in 2006 after 10 years of practicing as a pharmacist.   She received her Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Toronto in 1996 and has practiced as both a community and a hospital pharmacist.  She began her career as a staff pharmacist in a community pharmacy, then moved on to assume a manager position, and then eventually became an Associate at Shoppers Drug Mart.   Her role in hospital pharmacy consisted of dispensing, supervising, drug procurement, and other clinical activities.   Her clinical specialties included psychiatry, palliative care and geriatrics.  Being a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, she helped to develop policies and procedures for the hospital. Before coming to Sheridan, she was also the chief pharmacist at Toronto Grace.
Since coming to Sheridan, Courtney has taken on various roles including academic advisor, lab leader, curriculum developer and coordinator.  She currently teaches a variety of courses to students in the Pharmacy Technician/Assistant Program.  Moreover, Courtney has helped to develop a number of online hybrid courses, allowing students to experience the lecture component online and the experiential learning component through in-class, hands-on lab activities.  Through this development, Courtney has become passionate about the technological capabilities involved in online learning and has decided to pursue her Masters of Education.  Courtney has been involved in the Quality Assurance Program with the Ontario College of Pharmacists and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination for the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada.   She is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists and a member of the Ontario Pharmacists Association.
