George Bernard Shaw once said "We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing!". Dr. Cathy Coulthard holds a Ph.D in Applied Psychology and Human Development and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE). She strongly believes in the value of play, and play-based learning. Play has the power to transform people, and nowhere is that more evident than in young children.

Before joining Sheridan in 2003, Cathy worked extensively with children, families and Early Childhood Educators in a variety of programs and services across Ontario. As an active participant in life-long learning Cathy has been involved in advocating for children, families and Early Childhood Educators both domestically and internationally. With more than 30 years of experience in a variety of roles in early learning programs and education, Cathy focuses her research interests on preserving and honouring the cultural, spiritual and linguistic traditions of people as integral to the optimal and healthy development of all people.
