Amanda brings a passion for curriculum development, course development, and program planning to both the Veterinary Technician and Animal Care programs, as well as to the college as a whole. She brings a wealth of experience to share with her students having worked as a Registered Veterinary Technician in companion animal, avian, orthopedic, emergency, and zoo medicine. She is an active member of both local and college-wide academic assurance councils, a voting member of the Sheridan Senate, as well as a Director on the Board for the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians. Amanda takes a very hands on role in the educational development of the students in her program, and in 2012, she was presented with the NISOD Award of Excellence in Teaching. Amanda completed her Master of Education in Teaching and Learning (Integral Education), graduating with highest honours from the University of Calgary.

Philosophy of Teaching

“To create, and become part of, a community and culture of learning, where my students and I co-create learning experiences and opportunities for application of knowledge and skills; to respect and embrace the knowledge, expertise, experiences, and life skills that both students and colleagues offer; and, to explore new, alternative ways to deliver veterinary health education.”

Veterinary surgical nursing & assisting, pharmacology, veterinary dentistry for technicians. 

Research Interests

Alternative education, success rates in graduates from alternative programs, integral education.
