Amanda Majszki

Professor, Practical Nursing

Contact Info: Room H150, (905) 459-7533 Ext. 5497

Amanda has 15+ years professional nursing experience working primarily in the operating room setting as a staff nurse and professional practice educator. Her academic work experience includes working as an instructor in practical nursing, perioperative nursing and enhanced professional practice nursing programs for various colleges. Amanda began her nursing career as a registered practical nurse having graduated from Conestoga College. She upgraded to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Ryerson University and most recently completed her Master’s degree in Nursing from Athabasca University with a focus of study on nursing leadership.

Amanda’s objective as a teacher is to motivate students to develop their own learning interests and critical thinking, to establish a learner-centred environment in the classroom. Having taught a wide range of courses – anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, mental health, nursing care, skills labs, perioperative nursing, and policy and advocacy – has made Amanda aware of the needs and interests of students across various nursing programs. Collaborative learning is central to her teaching philosophy in order to promote reflective thinking and improve students’ communication and professional nursing skills.

Amanda works collaboratively with both faculty and students, where she can help develop and deliver courses by incorporating an innovative and creative teaching style using evidence-based information through an interdisciplinary approach.
