Randall Kapuscinski has an educational and professional background that is a blend of technical and creative elements. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in computational fluid dynamics.

Randall worked in the defense industry in western Canada for a period where his focus was on integrating object-oriented programming approaches with advanced numerical techniques to create commercial software tools for engineers. After three years, he moved on to enroll at the University of Victoria in pursuit of a second undergraduate degree in Classics. Through his relationship with the Fine Arts Computer Lab at the University of Victoria, he was recruited by (later renamed PureEdge), and worked for three years as an Internet technology consultant. His focus, while at PureEdge, was on designing and implementing customized workflow solutions for Fortune 500 companies and large government organizations. Needing a break from the international travel, Randall left PureEdge in 2001 to redirect towards technologies related to film and television.

In 2003, Randall enrolled in the Advanced TV and Film program at Sheridan and studied Camera and Lighting under Richard Leiterman. The following year, Randall was hired at Sheridan as the lead technologist for the Advanced TV & Film Program. As a technologist for the ATVF program, Randall guided the transition from high definition video to tapeless workflows and digital cinema technologies.

Randall is currently teaching courses in transmedia and previsualization. Sheridan is increasingly integrating cross-platform approaches into media production, and Randall is working with students to develop the necessary skills.
