Rachel is an artist, educator, and design consultant originally from New York. She holds a Masters of Fine Art in Fibre from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Crafts/ Fibre at the University of the Arts.

Rachel's artwork focuses on how patterns interconnect with our own patterns of growth, departure, and rejuvenation. Using both the body and landscape as cynosure and subject, she coalesces topics from archeology, architecture, travel, ecology, textiles, and nature. Her works, which include sculpture, installation, performance and costume, examine the constant resurfacing of the past, and its integration with the present.  Concurrent with her studio practice, Miller designs sets, costumes, and textiles both independently and for films, theatre, and dance.

For over 10 years, Rachel lectured on fibre and material studies, textiles and sustainable design to undergrad, graduate students, and industry professionals at several universities, including Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY; Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, NY; Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA; University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA; and Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore, India.

In addition, she has worked with local designers and artisans in India to develop products that preserve traditional techniques while incorporating contemporary design.

Her work has been collected and exhibited nationally and internationally, including at Museum of Arts and Design, New York, NY; PS 122, New York, NY; Newark Museum, Newark, NJ; Rosenwald Wolf Gallery, Philadelphia PA; Teatro Communale, and Teatro Mancinelli, Italy; Gallery 175, Seoul, Korea; and OCC Gallery, Toronto, CA. She actively participates in symposia and lectures, and has been published in Interior Design Magazine, Hand/ Eye Magazine, Studio Magazine, and Bangaluru Pages. She is currently Professor and Textiles Studio Head of the Bachelor of Craft and Design Program at Sheridan College.
