Michael Edward Jackson has earned a Gemini Award nomination for best sound in a documentary series and collected over 30 album credits as a Music Recording Engineer/Mixer. As a professional Sound Designer, he has recorded and mixed audio for numerous award-winning television documentaries, specials, television series, and commercials. Mr. Jackson began his career as a Recording Engineer with Pye Recording Studios in London, England in 1977. Returning to Canada in the late seventies, he worked for several Toronto recording studios including Eastern, Mastertrack, and Mars Sound/Video, which he co-founded in 1983. At the same time he began what was to become a long, successful relationship with TV-Ontario and in 1993 joined their staff as an Audio Post Production Mixer/Sound Designer. In 2002 he joined the Alliance/Atlantis Broadcast Group as their Audio Post Production Supervisor and was responsible for the audio production quality for 11 specialty channels and supervision of staff. He has also freelanced as a Sound Designer with CTV Specialty Channels. Mr. Jackson is now a full-time Professor of Sound Design at Sheridan College, has taught at Seneca College, and guest lectures at the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology in London, Ontario. As a graduate of the Technical Studies Apprenticeship Program at the University of Toronto, Michael is an Ontario Certified Teacher in Communications Technology and through OISE, has taught ESL in Jiangsu Province, China, and continued to do so in July, 2013.
