Dr. J. A. Rueda is an entrepreneur and educator. He has over 25 years of experience in R&D and commercialization, particularly in interactive and data networking products and services. As an entrepreneur and scientist, he focuses on technology applications and venture development in the communications, media, and entertainment industries. He was a chief executive producer for the Hong Kong teams that produced console, online, and mobile games products for the global market. He has served on the Board of Canada’s Advanced Networking Organization for Research Industry & Education with a budget of half a billion Canadian dollars, the Ensis Investment Venture Capital Fund Advisory Committee, International Standards Organization Technical Committee for Nano Technology, and other listed and private companies and not-for-profit organizations. Dr. Rueda was the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce’s Director of the Year 2005 and nominated as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. For eight years, he was Director of Data Networking, Operations & Research at the TRLabs in Canada, a consortium of industry, university, and government.

 
Dr. J. A. Rueda has specialized in the video games industry. He holds a Ph.D. (1996) & MSc in electrical & computer engineering, MBA, registered Professional Engineer (Canada); publications & patents, including contributions to the Wiley Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He has served as a Judge at the HKUST One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition, the Stuart Clark International MBA Competition, and various other entrepreneurship competitions. He is a Professor of Game Design at Sheridan College and was also a Professor of Interactive Design and Game Development at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong, Assistant Professor of Game Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Chief Executive Producer of PlayLab, and prior to that an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He has worked as an executive in AAA games, mobile, experimental, and has collaborated with many companies around the world.
