Sujit Fonseca is a seasoned marketing professional with over fifteen years experience. He started his career in Advertising at Grey Worldwide as a management trainee and was promoted to Senior Client Services officer. After having spent three years in advertising, Sujit wanted the experience of being ‘on the other side of the table’ which led him to Sony. As Brand Manager at Sony, he managed advertising and branding for Sony across over twenty countries. He managed the launch of Sony TVs, home theatres, VAIO laptops and DVDs. When Sony acquired AIWA in 2002, Sujit managed the AIWA brand as well.
Having always wanted to work in the not-for-profit sector, Sujit moved to the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) in 2005. He was part of the team that launched the Mentoring Partnership program – a program that has grown to over 6000 mentoring matches in the past nine year. Today Sujit is a mentor with the Mentoring partnership –the same program he helped launch. Giving back to the community and watch the program grow gives him a great sense of accomplishment. In 2007, Sujit moved to Research In Motion (RIM) – now rebranded as BlackBerry – and was based at the Global headquarters in Waterloo. He worked on the launch of several BlackBerry devices and coordinated marketing plans with other regions worldwide. Sujit always wanted to teach and in 2010 he accepted a part-time position at Sheridan College. “It is great to be able to teach our future leaders and share my knowledge and experience with them” says Sujit. He has been teaching for the past three years and thoroughly enjoys his teaching assignment.
In Sept. 2012, Sujit moved to Grant Thornton LLP – a global tax, advisory and audit firm. Sujit now manages all Marketing Communication activity for the firm in Canada. In his spare time he likes to read, listen to music and spend time with his family.
