Roger Halfacre is a full time Professor in the Tourism & Travel Program within the Pilon School of Business. Roger is originally from Calgary, Alberta and brings to Sheridan an extensive array of skills and work place experiences within the Tourism industry. He has held positions as both a retail and corporate travel counsellor; held management positions in retail travel; inbound and outbound tour operation; religious pilgrimages; ground transportation; and conference & event planning. Roger’s most recent position was as National Sales Manager for a local tour operator which specializes in the niche cruise market and in group development. A highlight of Roger’s career was serving as Director of Transportation for World Youth Day 2002 (Papal visit to Toronto) for which he won the Canadian Special Events’ Industry STAR Award for “Outstanding Logistical Achievement”. Roger enjoys travelling internationally and the privilege of giving back to the industry by mentoring up-and-coming Travel Professionals at the college level. Roger holds an Honours Diploma in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Theological Studies degree from the University of St. Michael’s College in addition to several industry credentials.
