Sheridan Senate - Notice of Elections for Faculty Senator Positions

Elections are required for nine faculty Senator positions which will become vacant as members’ terms end with the conclusion of this Senate year. The election period for the Sheridan Senate will take place between March 10, 2017 and April 25, 2017. Each constituency will have the opportunity to elect their representatives to Senate for a three year term: September 1, 2017 to June 20, 2020. Voting will be conducted electronically and will be available to eligible* constituent members from Monday, April 17, 2017 to Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

The following are the number of Full-Time faculty positions open for election:

  • Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design – 5 (five) faculty Senators 
  • Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies – 2 (two) faculty Senators 
  • Faculty Applied Science and Technology – 1 (one) faculty Senator 
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences – 0 – no opening 
  • Pilon School of Business – 1 (one) faculty Senator

*eligible constituent members are all current full-time faculty within the Faculties.

There are no vacancies in the positions representing Full-time faculty from Student Services Counselling, Library and Learning Services, or the Centre for Teaching and Learning.

Call for Nominations

Nominations for elected Senate positions will be accepted by the Secretary of Sheridan Senate until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Full-time professors or faculty in their respective Faculty constituencies may declare their candidacy by completing and submitting the Senate Membership Nomination Form. Documentation related to the election process can be accessed through the Sheridan web site, constituency offices, or the Secretary of Senate. Note: each candidate standing for election requires a Nominator and a Seconder from their own constituency.

Election Timeline Summary

Nominations will be accepted until 1:00 p.m. March 28, 2017
Candidate names in each constituency will be posted on March 29, 2017
Campaign Period will be March 29, 2017 to April 13, 2017
Voting opens at 9:00 a.m. April 17, 2017 and closes at 5:00 p.m. April 25, 2017
Successful candidates will be announced on April 26, 2017

Elections for Non Full-Time Faculty Senators

Each Faculty has one Non-full-time faculty Senator. No vacancies will arise this spring and therefore there will be no elections.

Elections for Student Senators:

There are two Student Senators from each Faculty. Elections will be held in the early fall 2017, details will be communicated in September.
