Neil Baldwin - Counsellor (on sabbatical January - December 2012)

Neil has been a Counsellor at Sheridan since 1992, providing guidance to thousands of students of all ages and life stages. His career planning approach is based on the concept that, "your work should reflect you not vice-versa," and he applies this whether helping them set career goals or make educational plans. Neil's work with clients emphasizes vocational assessment (career testing) to promote self-understanding, as well as thorough research for a realistic appreciation of job factors and future trends. Neil has particular interests in labour market information, statistics, and future outlook. He has presented on a variety of career development topics at local venues including Chapters Active Minds series as well as provincial and national professional conferences. Neil has appeared as a career development expert on television in Toronto and has been quoted in career articles in major media outlets including the Toronto Star and workopolis.com. Neil holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (U of T), a Master of Education degree in Counselling (U of T), and the Canadian Counsellor Certification (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association). Neil is a coffee fanatic ("it's about quality not quantity"), a motorcyle rider ("you gotta ride your own ride"), and a bit of an environmentalist. He practices green living at his off-grid, forested property in beautiful Grey County.


Judith MacKinnon - Counsellor (Davis campus)

Judith MacKinnon, B.Sc., B.Ed, M.Ed, CCC, joined Sheridan Student Services in 1998 and the Career Centre team in 2002. Since that time she has had the privilege of working with thousands of students in the process of making important career and educational transitions in their lives.  Judith uses a strengths approach to counselling combined with solution focused goal setting strategies. She believes in developing the “leader within”, and uses self awareness and career testing to find the best fit for educational programmes and ongoing career development. Prior to Sheridan, Judith had the unique experience of working in a number of provinces across Canada .She has worked with all age groups:from elementary, junior and senior high school counsellor and teacher to Adult Education instructor with the GED program. During her career at Sheridan, Judith has had the opportunity to initiate and develop a wide variety of college projects: Sheridan’s Beyond Graduation Education Fairs, Peer Mentor leadership training and programme coordinating, and Sherababa Multicultural Festival, to name but a few highlights. She has presented at both provincial and national conferences as well as completed volunteer work in Ecuador with the Sheridan Community Development students. She is an avid jogger (15,000 miles since 1988) and fitness and wellness advocate. She has completed several full and half marathons, and most recently, her first 2010 Polar Bear Dip. Judith is qualified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and is a True Colors workshop facilitator Most recently, Judith has resumed graduate studies where she is involved with Disability, Human Rights and Social Justice Issues.

Molly Kwan - Counsellor (Trafalgar & HMC campus)

Molly has worked with many individuals from a variety of backgrounds (from newcomers to mature students in transition) in job readiness programs. She has also enjoyed years of volunteer experience as a literacy tutor to adult learners. Molly focuses on strengths, work preferences and labour market information as building blocks to successful career planning. She has a special interest in supporting women in transition. Molly is qualified to administer and interpret career assessments (MBTI, Strong Interest) and is a certified True Colours facilitator. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Adult Education (Counselling Focus) from OISE, University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies from University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications (RTA) from Ryerson University.
