Student Advisement Centre
As a first year student, you are bound to have questions, and need advice or support. The Student Advisement Centre offers you a central campus location to ask your questions, and get the information and advice you need to help you make informed decisions throughout your Sheridan experience. We're here to help! In fact, if you have questions or need further assistance right now, please email us at askanadvisor@sheridaninstitute.ca.

Tutoring
If you are experiencing difficulty in your courses and think you may benefit from the help of a tutor take advantage of the Career Centre¿s FREE Math and English tutoring, or get course specific tutoring for a minimal cost.

Basic Computer Assistance
These are `drop-in¿ workshops designed to assist students in orienting their way around the computer, software programs and SLATE (Sheridan¿s Learning and Teaching Environment).  Sessions for Spring 2012 will be available for the first 7 weeks of the term.

Study groups
Peer supported study groups are free weekly review sessions for students enrolled in historically difficult courses (ie. Accounting, Java). These study groups provide a chance for you to get together with people in your class to compare notes, discuss important concepts, develop strategies for studying the subject, and to test yourselves before your professor does, so that when he/she does, you'll be ready.

Research and writing skills
Many students struggle with
research skills and citing/referencing , but did you know the Library can help? The Library offers workshops as well as works one on one with students to help teach you these skills. Through the Library you also have access to numerous research databases .

Counselling Services
It¿s common for new students to feel overwhelmed and stressed out about college. Counsellors can help in resolving academic, personal, social, emotional and health issues. Confidential and free drop-in appointments are available.

SLATE  your online portal
SLATE is an online portal that connects you to all of your classes. Through SLATE you have access to online chats, class notes, course work grades, e-mail, electronic books & journals, and many other useful tools. Your instructors may post course material on SLATE, and you may also use SLATE to connect with other students in your courses.
