Applied research opportunity at Sheridan Elder Research Centre for Creative Aging
The Sheridan Elder Research Centre for Creative Aging (SERCCA) is offering
an exciting opportunity to participate in an applied research initiative this Fall.
Starting October 6 'Fiction Writing from Life Experience' will be offered in-person at SERC and online. Joyce Wayne, award winning author and Sheridan journalism faculty member, is the lead on the project and has exciting plans in store with respect to the two different delivery models.
If you are interested in participating (or know someone who is), please register as soon as possible as space is limited. We would love to see individuals from around the globe participating online so please feel free to share this message far and wide!

SERC receives a one-year grant of $50,000 awarded to Director Pat Spadafora
This is a significant “first” for Sheridan and Canadian Polytechnic Institutions – of 59 applications received, 21 were funded, with Sheridan being the only college. The project, entitled ‘Movement Matters: Dance as a Health Promotion Strategy’, offers an innovative opportunity to learn more about the potential for dance to encourage healthy and successful aging and to maintain functional autonomy in an older population.
This award brings a new research group (comprising academics, researchers and service providers) together and has the potential for facilitating the formation of a larger team focused on creative aging.
